Services¶
I help teams clear accumulated technical debt and release pressure without disrupting team dynamics or turning legacy issues into internal friction.
Support for companies in stabilizing, extending and modernizing existing software landscapes — especially where technical debt, legacy systems, integration effort, concurrency or release pressure slow down progress.
The focus is on practical senior-level implementation: making problems visible, reducing risks, implementing sustainable solutions and selectively extending existing systems.
Technical Debt¶
Technical debt often arises from time pressure, growing requirements and short-term delivery goals. I help analyze critical areas, prioritize risks and implement targeted improvements — without unrealistic full rewrites.
Typical support:
- analysis of critical code areas and dependencies
- targeted refactoring with clear technical reasoning
- improvement of testability, readability and maintainability
- incremental modernization of productive systems
Legacy Systems¶
Legacy systems are often business-critical and proven in production, but difficult to change. I support controlled extension, stabilization and modernization of existing applications.
Typical support:
- code and architecture reviews
- refactoring of existing components
- integration tests and regression tests
- separation of legacy logic, new logic and integration layers
Integration Issues¶
Many technical problems occur at system boundaries: between applications, services, databases, machines, file formats or external interfaces.
Typical support:
- design and implementation of stable interfaces: whether
ASP.NET, ETL,OPC UAclient/server instances,SECS/GEMorMQTT REST,SOAP,WebSocketand file-based integrations- integration between backend, databases, services, external systems or equipment integration
- error handling, logging and technical traceability
Concurrency Issues¶
Concurrency quickly leads to errors that are difficult to reproduce: race conditions, deadlocks, unclear execution order or uncontrolled parallelism.
Typical support:
- analysis of
race conditions, deadlocksand synchronization problems - structured use of
async/await,Task, queues and synchronization mechanisms - controlled parallel processing with clear execution boundaries
- stabilization of job-, queue- and dispatcher-based workflows
In addition, I am developing TplQueue as my own .NET component for the controlled execution, observation and coordination of concurrent tasks. The project serves as technical evidence of my working style in the areas of queue processing, retry strategies, observability and API design.
Fragile Releases¶
Fragile releases occur when build, configuration, deployment, tests and target environments do not work together cleanly. I support making releases more reproducible, traceable and lower-risk.
Typical support:
- analysis of build, configuration and deployment problems
- preparation of deployments for Windows and Linux environments
- support with Windows services, Linux services and containerized deployments
- experience with MSI/WiX-based Windows installations
- improvement of release readiness through tests, logging and clear dependencies
Unpredictable Behavior¶
Unpredictable behavior is often a symptom of missing tests, implicit dependencies, weak error handling or insufficiently understood side effects.
Typical support:
- analysis of difficult-to-reproduce errors
- creation or extension of unit, integration and regression tests
- meaningful use of code coverage
- better observability through logging and status information
Typical Engagement Model¶
- reinforcement of existing teams in extension, stabilization or modernization work
- ownership of a technical area requiring structured senior-level implementation
- support with integration complexity, legacy constraints, database bottlenecks or release pressure
- work across system boundaries when backend, databases, interfaces, data flows and quality need to be considered together
Evidence¶
A structured experience overview is available in my Profile / CV. Additional evidence can be provided when relevant for a specific opportunity.
